“JUST AS YOU ARE”

“About a decade ago, I began observing “street trees” as individuals, rather than simply parts of a planned urban canopy or elements of landscape design. I started photographing these trees—usually framing the trunk at eye level—in the spirit of a quick street portrait. Each photograph captures an intimate moment with the tree, forming an ongoing series through seasons and cities over time.

One core theme in these images and my broader work is empathy for the beings and objects I stop to see and—by extension—the people associated with those often lost, forgotten, or discarded objects. A deep-rooted fascination and curiosity about these ephemeral scenes and their stories are longstanding and central to my experience.”
